The second pc streaming the music files can be fairly basic. This is meant to deliver incredible results but haven't heard it yet. The option of using 2 pc's/laptops is available with this version. More improvements and getting some good reviews. I haven't taken it yet as it is a beta version.

New version of jplay on trial at the moment. If it is the same product I had a go at recently. Jriver I believe looks and works a bit like itunes.

Sound through a jkdac32 using a young driver instead of the hiface driver gives to my ears and a lot of others a really good sound. turn off antivirus, internet and any other spurious programs. Running windows 8 and using total commander.

Full hibernate, xstream, Directlink, bitstream size set to native, throttle on, V set to off.otl vol off, polarity set to normal. Ok it can be annoying eventualy but you are getting to try it for nothing. I don't think it is too much of a problem trialing it with the gap in playback every now and them. What have you used and did JPlay make any improvement for you? Oh and a SM PSU sadly.then USB through to a Halide Bridge then as per my signature. Mine: Win7/64, i5 2500, 3.3GHz, Intel Sandy Bridge board (I forget which), 8Gig memory, mixed drives HDD (files) and SS (programs and system). those where it wasn't? Could it be an Intel/AMD thing, power and overhead issues, single core vs multicore?

This brings me to the point of the post what was the hardware inside the systems that were clearly improved vs. Now I have forked out (relatively) a lot for my system and would happily pay £90 to make it better, but I personally haven't been able to hear that level of improvement.Īssuming this is the same for the rest of us I conclude those who forked out thought the difference was worth the asking price, and fair do's to you as well it must have been a bigger difference than I detected. Either way it clearly isn't night and day, at best very subtle. Well I'm not going to pay if I can't discern if it is better, and I can't trial it with this daft crippling feature.

Now I thought I could hear a difference, subtle, and a possible improvement in my system but almost impossible to say because the sound randomly drops for ten or twenty seconds every couple of minutes and that ruins any kind of musical experience (excluding punk I suppose but I haven't tried that on this). I was using the river engine, so I switched to beach. All settings as per instructions as I set it up. Coming late to the party I downloaded and installed JPlay a couple of days ago, and after doing the tweakery sat down to witness the veils lifting. Well SQ went many notches up but then running FLAC files on JRiver vs mp3 on iTunes so no surprises there. My experience - I got Jriver early on as an alternative to iTunes for its ability to deal with tagging in a useful way for classical music as well as for SQ since it seemed to be very well regarded in that department and had bit-perfect output. I know this has been flogged to death and risks cable spat type am I continuing.I am genuinely astonished at the way the camp divides into two polar opposites over this one and wonder if it has something to do with the hardware configuration that the respective users run the program on?
